Will a Johnny Cash fan please help?

I%26#039;ve been going through the track lists of some J.C. CDs, picking some to beef up my collection, and I found some songs he performed (many on the American and Cash Unearthed albums) that I was surprised to see and wondered if he actually wrote any of them. The lyrics are identical to the songs recorded by other artists, I already checked that. Now, I could research the rest myself, but I%26#039;ll give some lucky Cash fan 10 pts. to tell me who the original authors of the following songs are:

1. %26quot;One%26quot; (I know best from U2%26#039;s version)

2. %26quot;I Hung My Head%26quot; (I know from Sting)

3. %26quot;I Won%26#039;t Back Down%26quot; ( %26quot; Tom Petty %26amp; Heartbreakers)

4. %26quot;The Long Black Veil%26quot; (haven%26#039;t heard since childhood)

I%26#039;m almost positive that %26quot;Personal Jesus,%26quot; %26quot;Heart of Gold%26quot; and %26quot;Hurt%26quot; are the original productions of Depeche Mode, Neil Young and Trent Reznor, though, right?

I don%26#039;t think he wrote any of those songs, although he did write a lot of songs. Long black veil is an old song.

Didn%26#039;t The Proclaimers do a song called The Long Black Vail?|||1. %26quot;One%26quot; I think was originally U2%26#039;s but I do know that Johnny and U2 were friends and shared music and even had a song together.

2. %26quot;I Hung My Head%26quot; as far as I know is his song

3. %26quot;I Won%26#039;t Back Down%26quot; is Tom Petty%26#039;s but I prefer Johnny%26#039;s version

4. %26quot;The Long Black Veil%26quot; I think is Johnnys as well but I could be wrong. I know he has recorded it A LOT including on At Folsom Prison.

The rest you are correct.

Hope that helps!
