I know that a journal entry has to be equal with debits and credits, but I am confused as to why cash is sometimes journalized as a debit, and sometimes a credit. I have seen the corrected journal entries, and for some reason, the cash seems to appear in opposite of what makes sense. Please help, but do not go crazy with accounting jargon that will confuse me.

You have to tell them you want to payoff or make a payment on the cash reserve....you can not just make your deposit and think that this pays the cash reserve.

The idea for the cash reserve is to give you flexibility if you have to have money now when you know you have money coming, so no checks bounce and you save on NSF fees. The bank does it because they make interest on you. Use it wisely and pay it off at every chance.

As far as your name, the correct thing to do is sign it twice, once the way it is made out and then once as your name is on the account.

The good faith estimate is the closest you get for the numer you want to know. Just be aware, once you own the house, you have to pay taxes, repairs, utilities, etc. on a regular basis.|||This is a great question, because FHA loans also have the UFMIP included in the costs.

Here is how you determine what you are responsible for:

Sales Price of Home X DP% = down payment

Then you add the down payment plus any closing costs you are paying, and that is how much you owe at closing.

Example:

SP = 200,000

DP % = 5

DP = 10,000

CC (including, attorney title, etc) = 8,000

You would have to bring 18K to closing, unless the seller is paying for a portion of this.

Now with FHA, it depends on whether the up-front mortgage insurance premium (UFMIP) is paid in cash or rolled into the loan amount. If it is paid cash, then you have to add that into your up-front money, otherwise it is rolled into the loan, and since you pay interest on it, it becomes tax deductible, too.

In your case, see if the total cost line of $4,622 includes the FHA MIP (Mortgage Insurance Premium). If it does, and it is being rolled into your loan amount, then you don%26#039;t have to bring that amount to closing, as it will be tacked onto your loan amount.

So in essence, have a look at your numbers, and check with your lender about how the UFMIP is being placed in your loan. Also, you will have a monthly amount of PMI you will be paying. Based on your sales parice, I am guessing you make less than 100K combined household income, so that amount of PMI will be tax deductible through 2010 for you, according to the new tax laws.

If you are trying to estimate the net present value of a company by calculating future cash flows, of course you will use forecasted future figures of sales etc. depending on how you estimate growth is going to be like. However, forecasted figures are also based on actual figures e.g. future sales are forecasted based not only on economic predictions but the past growth patterns.

Cash Balance, Net income?

Marie works in a hospital. She just received her FIRST set of financial statements from her accountant. She is upset. The statements show a CASH BALANCE of 3600 at the end of the month, but a NET INCOME of only 500. Is this situation possible? Should Marie find another accountant?

Please explain this situation to me.

Its it of course possible, cash is a %26quot;real%26quot; account, meaning its is balance %26quot;as of%26quot; date, while income is a %26quot;nominal account%26quot; meaning that the balance is only from the current period. The cash account balance being much higher than the income balance maybe due to collection of receivables, for which the related income was already recognized in the past periods. Anyway this case is common to all business.. the accountant most likely is correct.
