I live in Chicago and i heard that few states have law under which you can redeem unused gift cards for cash. I have few unused Target gift cards and i am not sure if Illinois Law give me right to redeem those gift cards for cash at target. I received them as a gift (no receipt)

I have never heard of any laws that require this. I believe that several stores will allow you to just get the cash back if the value remaining is under a small amount such as $5. However, don%26#039;t expect to be able to do that if you have an unused $100 gift card.
